Hospice RN – Night Shift
Location: Atlanta, GA
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 21, 2026
About the Role
Join the facility's hospice team providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients and families navigating terminal illness. You'll focus on comfort, dignity, and quality of life—managing symptoms, coordinating care across settings, and supporting patients and loved ones through the dying process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage end-of-life symptoms: pain, dyspnea, agitation, and other comfort needs
- Administer medications (morphine, dilaudid, versed, fentanyl, haldol, robinul, scopolamine patch, ativan) and non-pharmacologic interventions per physician orders
- Educate patients and families on disease progression and what to expect
- Provide emotional and psychosocial support; refer families to bereavement resources
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans
- Perform postmortem care as needed
- Document thoroughly and ensure compliance with hospice and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines
- Float to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS certification required at start
- 1+ years hospice or end-of-life care experience
- NIHSS and AHA BLS certification
- Strong ventilator and non-titratable vasoactive drip experience
- Demonstrated competency in symptom management and comfort care
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy.
