Medical-Surgical RN | Night Shift | Chattanooga, TN
A 13-week travel contract is available for an experienced Medical-Surgical RN in Chattanooga, TN, with an anticipated start date of August 10, 2026.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 4 weekend shifts per 28-day schedule; holiday rotation required
- Floating into unit rotation with other staff as needed
Unit Overview
This general Med-Surg unit cares for adult patients across a broad range of acute and chronic conditions, including respiratory illness, renal disease, GI diagnoses, and cardiac/telemetry presentations. Common clinical tasks include CVC management, indwelling catheter care, heparin drip administration, wound care, and pre/post-operative nursing. The unit is supported by Clinical Coordinators, a Unit Secretary, PCTs, and Case Management.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or applicable compact)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg experience required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- CMSRN preferred
- Strong skills in assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration

What You'll Do
- Assess and monitor patients with varying acuity, escalating care as needed
- Administer medications, manage drips, and coordinate discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
This is a well-supported unit with an established interdisciplinary team. Candidates with solid Med-Surg fundamentals and strong communication skills are encouraged to apply.
