Medical-Surgical RN | Night Shift

Location: Chattanooga, TN

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 guaranteed hours/week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: August 31, 2026

About the Role

Join the medical-surgical unit as an RN providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions. You'll manage a patient load of 5–6 patients per shift, delivering direct care, coordinating with the care team, and supporting positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients with medical and surgical diagnoses; respond to changes in condition and escalate as needed
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on treatment, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
• CMSRN certification preferred
• Team-oriented and compassionate approach to patient care

• Dress Code: Navy scrubs
• Weekend Requirements: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
• Floating: Within facility med-surg units as needed
