Operating Room Nurse — Travel Assignment
Position Overview
The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced OR nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. You'll work three 12-hour shifts per week with a rotating schedule: Saturday & Sunday plus one rotating weekday (Friday or Monday), 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Weekend on-call coverage runs from end of shift Friday through 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Clinical Scope
This is a high-volume OR serving multiple surgical specialties: general surgery, cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, robotics (da Vinci), gynecology, urology, pediatric surgery, and transplants, with limited ENT and plastic procedures. You'll manage 35–50 cases per day with turnovers under 20 minutes. The facility uses advanced equipment including da Vinci robotic systems and neuronavigation technology.
You'll function as both circulating and scrub nurse across all service lines and float across multiple campuses as needed.
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license (or compact/multistate)
- 24 months current OR experience in a hospital setting (required)
- Circulating and/or scrub experience
- Experience in general, robotic, pediatric, and trauma cases (required)
- Highly preferred: neuro, orthopedic trauma, GYN, urology, transplant, vascular, ENT, or plastic cases
- Level II Trauma experience minimum; Level I preferred
- BLS (AHA) current
- Must have completed a travel assignment within the past 15 months
- Current driver's license
Contract Details
- Start: September 14, 2026
- 91 guaranteed hours per week
- Holiday rotation required (1–2 of 3 summer holidays)
- Orientation dates: 9/14, 9/21
