CVOR Surgical Technologist | Reston, VA | 13-Week Contract

This CVOR Surgical Tech position supports a busy cardiovascular and thoracic surgical program performing open heart procedures including CABGs, mitral/tricuspid/aortic valve repairs and replacements, aortic repairs, VATS, and vascular procedures. Cases require close collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons, circulating RNs, perfusion team, and anesthesia staff.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: Monday–Friday
• Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (some days extending to 4:00 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks | Start: July 13, 2026

Responsibilities

• Scrub and provide intraoperative support during complex cardiac and thoracic cases
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field; anticipate surgeon needs during high-acuity procedures
• Assist with central line and arterial line setups, cell saver, and fluid management equipment
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts; handle specimens per protocol
• Assist with room setup, turnover, and obtaining disposables and instrument sets

Float Requirement: May float to main operating rooms as needed

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• CST certification required
• BLS required; CNOR preferred
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR or cardiac surgical tech experience
• Proficiency in sterile technique and advanced cardiac instrumentation
