Emergency Department Nurse – 13-Week Contract
Location: Springfield, MA
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 available
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
About the Role
The facility's Emergency Department is a high-acuity setting serving a diverse patient population including behavioral health, boarding, emergency/trauma, and critically ill patients. You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where strong clinical skills and adaptability are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- and rapidly assess incoming patients to determine acuity and care priorities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across a broad range of emergent and urgent conditions
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per protocols
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and rapid patient deterioration
- Monitor and manage patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients and families on discharge and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support patient flow and throughput in a high-volume setting
- Follow infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 1 year of emergency department or ICU experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS required
- ADN or BSN (BSN preferred)
- Comfort managing complex, unstable patients in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
Note: Candidates must be located outside a 90-mile radius from the facility.
