Cardiac Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Kansas City, MO
13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
This fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit in Kansas City, MO is seeking an experienced travel RN for a 13-week night shift assignment beginning September 21, 2026.
Unit Overview
The unit specializes in continuous cardiac monitoring and management of patients with complex cardiac conditions. Nurses provide post-procedural care for patients following ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post-Op Day 1 open heart surgery, and permanent pacemaker placements. The team includes charge nurses, unit secretaries, and patient care technicians.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and respond to telemetry strips and EKGs
- Administer and titrate IV cardiac medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
- Perform and maintain IV insertions, NGT placement, chest tube maintenance, Foley insertion, and temporary pacemakers
- Monitor for arrhythmias and escalate care as needed
- Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions and treatment plans
- Participate in bedside shift report and patient-centered communication
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 1 year of cardiac telemetry, PCU, or ICU experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Demonstrated ability to titrate cardiac drips and manage post-cardiac procedure patients
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
Schedule & Logistics
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Must complete 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
- Float possible to units where competency has been demonstrated
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs (black pants permitted with navy top)
