Operating Room Nurse | 13-Week Contract

Location: Bridgeport, WV

Shift: 12-hour nights, Wednesday–Friday (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

About the Role

The facility's operating room handles a diverse surgical case load—approximately 65 cases daily across general surgery, orthopedic, vascular, neurosurgery, ENT, and ophthalmology procedures. You'll work in a modern OR environment with 8 operating suites and 3 endoscopy suites, and you'll have the opportunity to cross-train in endoscopy during your contract.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across multiple surgical specialties
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments, verify surgical site and consent per protocol
• Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after cases
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
• Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring proper function and availability
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical teams to maintain case flow
• Document intraoperative care accurately in the EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 1+ years of general OR experience
• Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles
• Flexibility across surgical specialties
• Valid driver's license (50-mile radius requirement)

Schedule Notes

• Call rotation: one weeknight call (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) every 4 weeks, plus one weekend call shift per 3-month contract
• 2 cancellations allowed per 13-week contract

Experience with robotic surgery is a plus.
