Operating Room RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA

13-Week Contract | Days | 4×10s | Monday–Friday

This busy surgical program is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract in Des Moines, IA. The position runs Monday through Friday with a 6:30 AM start time, rotating day off, and 40 hours per week.

The Role

You'll function in both circulating and scrub roles across a high-volume OR running 35–50 cases per day with turnaround expectations under 20 minutes. Service lines include general surgery, cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, robotics (including da Vinci), gynecology, urology, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastics. Float across multiple campuses in the Des Moines area is required.

Schedule & Call

• 4×10s, Monday–Friday, rotating day off
• Weekend call: end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday
• Approximately one overnight call per week and three call weekends per 13-week contract
• Holiday rotation required (1–2 of the designated summer holidays)

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of current OR experience (hospital/medical center setting preferred)
• Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Orthopedic scrubbing experience required
• Experience in General, da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma required
• Prior completed travel assignment within the last 15 months required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS (AHA or ARC) required
• Electronic medical record experience within the past 3 years required
