Travel RN – Stroke & Brain Unit (PCU/Step-Down) | Kansas City, MO

13-Week Contract | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This travel RN opportunity is on a dedicated Stroke & Brain unit providing progressive care to patients requiring closer monitoring than general med-surg but below ICU-level acuity. The unit manages stroke and neurology patients, with a strong emphasis on telemetry monitoring and neurological assessment.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 shifts/week
• 3–4 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Float requirement: agency travelers may be floated to areas matching demonstrated competency

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active RN license (state or applicable compact)
• BLS and ACLS (required)
• NIHSS certification (required)
• PCCN preferred

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of PCU, step-down, or stroke/neurology RN experience
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Cardiac drip administration and basic dysrhythmia recognition
• Neurological assessment and stroke patient management

Clinical Scope

• Continuous cardiac and neurological monitoring
• Administration of IV medications including select cardiac drips
• Care for patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration
• Rapid response and code participation
• Patient and family education on stroke-related conditions and recovery

Additional Details

• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Techs available on unit
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
• Guaranteed hours: 36/week
