Burn ICU/PCU — 13-Week Contract
Location: Kansas City, MO
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour)
Schedule: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
About the Unit
Join a dedicated burn ICU/PCU providing comprehensive care to adult patients from admission through discharge. You'll work alongside a strong multidisciplinary team including a dedicated burn surgeon, intensivists (available 24/7), nurse practitioners, rehabilitation specialists, and case management. The unit maintains a collaborative, family-oriented culture with experienced core staff.
Clinical Scope
The unit manages mixed-acuity patients, including post-operative burn care, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical interventions. Common procedures include wound debridement, dressing changes, line and chest tube insertions, and post-operative procedural support. You'll provide direct care to critically ill patients, titrate vasoactive and sedation drips, manage ventilators and arterial lines, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certified
- Minimum 1+ years ICU/PCU experience
- Hemodynamic monitoring and drip titration proficiency
- Burn experience preferred but not required
- NIH and ABLS certifications preferred
Uniform
Navy blue scrub top; navy or black scrub pants; scrub jacket required. No t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts.
Float Policy
Float to similar ICU/PCU/CCU units as needed.
