Emergency Department Nurse – Night Shift

Position Details

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
• Schedule: 4 x 12-hour shifts per week with 48 guaranteed hours
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: July 13, 2026
• Location: Kansas City, MO

About the Role

Join the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse providing rapid, comprehensive care in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. You'll work across three distinct clinical areas—rapid care, main ED, and a specialized psychiatric-safe zone—managing patients with emergent and urgent conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• and assess incoming patients; prioritize care based on acuity
• Manage high-acuity patients including trauma activations and code responses
• Perform procedures including chest tube management and port placements
• Monitor patients on ventilators, BiPAP, arterial lines, and other critical equipment
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient care plans
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and ensure patient safety protocols
• De-escalate and support patients in crisis, including those in psychiatric distress

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
• Minimum 1 year Emergency Department experience
• Proficiency with protocols and high-acuity environments
• De-escalation training and CPI certification preferred

Preferred Credentials

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
• BSN

Schedule Requirements

• 4 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays minimum per 4-week cycle
• 2 major and 2 minor holiday coverage
• Float to affiliated ED as needed
