Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Decatur, GA
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 8, 2026
About the Role
The facility's PCU cares for patients requiring closer monitoring than med-surg but not ICU-level care. You'll manage patients transitioning from critical care or at risk of clinical deterioration, working with experienced interdisciplinary teams to support safe recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to condition changes
- Administer IV medications, including vasoactive drips (Norepinephrine, Dopamine)
- Assess and manage complex wounds and telemetry monitoring
- Support rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on condition and recovery plan
- Document assessments and interventions accurately
- Collaborate with physicians and the care team on plan of care
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- License: Active RN license in Georgia or current compact license
- Education: BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; PCCN preferred
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years in PCU or step-down nursing with telemetry monitoring
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency with complex wound care, vents, and vasoactive medication drips
- Baseline: Standard immunizations and background clearance
Working Conditions
- Patient ratios: 4–5 patients per nurse
- Night shift schedule (permanent)
- Standard call and weekend expectations per unit census
