Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Role
The facility's labor and delivery service is a high-volume, fast-paced perinatal center managing over 500 deliveries per month. You'll provide direct nursing care to laboring patients across LDR suites, rooms, antepartum units, and operating rooms. This is an academic teaching service with 24-hour in-house attending OB coverage, anesthesia, and NICU support.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Administer labor induction/augmentation agents and provide epidural support per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
- Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Texas or compact)
- Associate's degree in nursing minimum (BSN preferred)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification required
- Minimum 2 years L&D/perinatal experience in a high-volume delivery service
Preferred
- 3–5 years perinatal experience
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
