Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Role
The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is a high-volume perinatal service delivering over 500 babies per month. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment managing laboring patients from admission through delivery and immediate postpartum care. The unit includes labor/delivery/recovery suites, dedicated cesarean operating rooms, , mother-baby couplet rooms, and antepartum monitoring areas. In-house attending OB coverage, anesthesia, and NICU support are available 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Provide direct care to laboring patients, including medication administration (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support)
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with emergency interventions
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care
- Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum expectations
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the facility's electronic health record
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Texas or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
- 2+ years of Labor & Delivery/perinatal experience in a high-volume setting
- Associate's degree in Nursing (minimum)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- 3–5 years of perinatal experience
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
- S.T.A.B.L.E Program certification
