Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry nurse for night shift coverage. This is an 18-week contract with flexibility for 13 weeks if preferred. Multiple shift options are available: 4x12, 3x12, or 2x12 schedules.

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• Contract duration: 18 weeks
• Guaranteed 48 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; identify and respond to rhythm changes
• Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate discharge planning with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)

Required Qualifications

• 18+ months of permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience (must be in hand prior to travel)
• Active RN license (Ohio or compact state) in hand at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (active and current)
• NIHSS certification (willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• One recent professional reference from manager, ANM, supervisor, or director (from past 12 months)

Additional Requirements

• COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions available)
• Background check and drug screening
• ECG rhythm recognition and competency assessments completed during orientation
• Pre-start modules required (4–15 hours, varies by specialty)
