Infusion RN – Outpatient Infusion Center

Location: Des Moines, IA

Shift: Days, 7:30 a.m. start | 8–10 hour shifts (per department need)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's outpatient infusion center is seeking an experienced Infusion RN to deliver high-quality care to patients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other IV medications. You'll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment managing patient assessments, vascular access, medication administration, and patient education.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, biologics, and IV therapies per physician orders
• Assess patients pre-, during, and post-infusion; monitor for and respond to adverse reactions
• Initiate and manage vascular access (peripheral IVs, PICC lines, implanted ports)
• Educate patients and families on therapy, side effects, and home care instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the care team on treatment plans
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient response accurately in the EMR
• Maintain infusion equipment and supplies per protocol

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa (or compact/multistate license)
• Current BLS certification
• 24 months of infusion/infusion therapy experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Outpatient infusion center experience
• Chemotherapy certification or experience
• Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills
• EMR proficiency
• First-time travelers welcome if you have at least 2 years of infusion experience

Additional Notes

• You must be at least 50 miles from the facility (based on driver's license address)
• Holiday coverage required (1–2 of 3 summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• Professional reference from a supervisor/manager within the past 24 months preferred
