NICU RN – Level IV/Surgical
Location: Atlanta, GA
Shift: Day 12-hour (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Weekend block schedule: Saturday, Sunday, plus one weekday shift per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
About the Role
The facility's Level IV surgical NICU cares for critically ill and premature neonates requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support. You'll provide direct nursing care to high-risk infants with complex diagnoses including congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS), necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF/EA), abdominal wall defects, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and pulmonary hypertension, as well as pre-, peri-, and post-operative patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in neonatal condition with precision
- Manage advanced life support equipment including ventilators, CPAP, umbilical lines, and warmers
- Administer medications and titratable drips using neonatal dosing protocols
- Support thermoregulation, feeding, and developmental care
- Perform rapid response and resuscitation interventions
- Collaborate with neonatologists and interdisciplinary teams
- Educate and support families, including kangaroo care
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols for immunocompromised patients
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP certification required; PALS preferred
- RNC-NIC certification preferred
- 1+ years NICU experience (level IV/surgical experience required)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Flu vaccine required (no exceptions)
- Nicotine-free facility
- Float to other units as needed
- Must work at least one holiday if it falls during contract period
