Emergency Department Nurse

Location: Overland Park, KS

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (with option for 48-hour guarantee)

About the Role

The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN to join a fast-paced, high-acuity team. You'll work in a dynamic environment managing diverse patient presentations—from urgent care to trauma activations—requiring quick assessment, critical thinking, and collaborative care.

Your Responsibilities

  • and rapidly assess incoming patients to determine acuity and prioritize care
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care across a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions
  • Respond to trauma activations, codes, and patient deterioration with appropriate interventions
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocols and physician orders
  • Monitor patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
  • Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
  • Sustain patient flow and throughput in a high-volume setting
  • Uphold infection control, safety, and de-escalation practices

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Kansas (or compact license as applicable)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 1+ years of Emergency Department experience
  • Proficiency with protocols and high-acuity environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
