Emergency Department Nurse
Location: Overland Park, KS
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (with option for 48-hour guarantee)
About the Role
The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN to join a fast-paced, high-acuity team. You'll work in a dynamic environment managing diverse patient presentations—from urgent care to trauma activations—requiring quick assessment, critical thinking, and collaborative care.
Your Responsibilities
- and rapidly assess incoming patients to determine acuity and prioritize care
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care across a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and patient deterioration with appropriate interventions
- Administer medications and treatments per protocols and physician orders
- Monitor patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Sustain patient flow and throughput in a high-volume setting
- Uphold infection control, safety, and de-escalation practices
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Kansas (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1+ years of Emergency Department experience
- Proficiency with protocols and high-acuity environments
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
