Emergency Department Nurse – Night Shift

Location: Overland Park, KS

Shift & Schedule:

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (4 x 12)
  • Every third weekend required
  • 48 hours guaranteed per week
  • 13-week contract

About the Role:

You'll join a busy emergency department providing direct care to a high-acuity patient population. This role demands strong assessment and skills, rapid decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • and prioritize incoming patients across the acuity spectrum
  • Manage trauma activations, codes, and acute deteriorations
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per protocol
  • Monitor patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team on care plans
  • Educate patients and families on discharge and follow-up
  • Document assessments and interventions accurately in the medical record
  • Maintain patient flow in a high-volume setting
  • Apply infection control and safety protocols consistently

Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (Kansas)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification
  • Minimum 2 years emergency/trauma nursing experience
  • Knowledge of trauma, STEMI, stroke, and sepsis protocols
  • Comfort with systems and fast-paced environments

Preferred Certifications:

  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Dress Code: Cobalt blue top, black or cobalt blue pants, closed-toe shoes
