Emergency Department Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Overland Park, KS
Shift & Schedule:
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (4 x 12)
- Every third weekend required
- 48 hours guaranteed per week
- 13-week contract
About the Role:
You'll join a busy emergency department providing direct care to a high-acuity patient population. This role demands strong assessment and skills, rapid decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
Typical Responsibilities:
- and prioritize incoming patients across the acuity spectrum
- Manage trauma activations, codes, and acute deteriorations
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per protocol
- Monitor patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team on care plans
- Educate patients and families on discharge and follow-up
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Maintain patient flow in a high-volume setting
- Apply infection control and safety protocols consistently
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license (Kansas)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification
- Minimum 2 years emergency/trauma nursing experience
- Knowledge of trauma, STEMI, stroke, and sepsis protocols
- Comfort with systems and fast-paced environments
Preferred Certifications:
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Dress Code: Cobalt blue top, black or cobalt blue pants, closed-toe shoes
