Med/Surg Telemetry – Night Shift RN

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced RN for its medical/surgical telemetry unit on the night shift. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, with a focus on continuous cardiac monitoring and symptom management.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
• Contract Duration: 16 weeks

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and other chronic/acute conditions
• Coordinate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift

Requirements

• Active RN license in New York (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year recent med/surg telemetry experience
• 2 years of U.S. work experience required for international candidates
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency

Additional Information

• Must be flexible with scheduling; float to other units as needed
• Willing to work as charge nurse (training provided if needed)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
