Emergency Department Nurse – Rochester, NY
Position Overview
The facility's Emergency Department is seeking experienced RNs for a 16-week contract. You'll work in a high-acuity setting managing a diverse patient population, including specialized geriatric emergency care. The team is collaborative, supportive, and focused on delivering excellent patient outcomes.
Shift & Schedule
- 3 × 12-hour rotating nights: 3P–3A or 7P–7A
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: One weekend shift per contracted week, or two every other weekend
- Minimum 1 holiday during contract
- Blocked scheduling available (Thurs/Fri/Sat, Fri/Sat/Sun, or Sat/Sun/Mon upon request)
- On-call optional but recommended: 2 hours/week average; pick up shifts in 4-, 8-, 12-, or 16-hour blocks (7P–7A only)
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York (or compact license)
- 2+ years recent emergency nursing experience; 2 years U.S. work history required for international candidates
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
- TNCC and CEN preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Key Responsibilities
- and assess patients; prioritize care in a fast-paced environment
- Deliver rapid, comprehensive nursing care across emergent and urgent conditions
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and patient deterioration
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Educate patients and families on discharge and follow-up care
- Maintain infection control, safety, and de-escalation standards
