Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced CVOR Nurse to join the cardiovascular operating room team. You will provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support during high-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures in a dynamic, collaborative surgical environment.
Shift & Duration
- 4 × 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours/week)
- Day shift
- 13-week contract
- Start date: September 21, 2026
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- CNOR certification preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of CVOR experience required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
Key Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and scrub nursing support during CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aortic repairs, and other cardiothoracic procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment
- Coordinate with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
- Perform accurate counts (instruments, sponges, needles) before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor hemodynamics and patient status throughout complex procedures
- Manage medications and emergency equipment
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to the CVICU
- Document procedural details and patient data accurately per facility standards
