NICU RN – Night Shift

Location: Irving, TX

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (three 12-hour nights per week)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Unit: NICU

About the Role

The facility's NICU cares for critically ill and premature neonates requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support. You'll provide direct care to high-risk infants, manage complex equipment, and support families through their stay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive care to critically ill and premature neonates with continuous assessment and monitoring
  • Manage ventilators, CPAP, central lines, and isolettes/warmers
  • Administer medications and titratable drips with precise neonatal dosing
  • Support thermoregulation, developmental care, and family-centered practices (including kangaroo care)
  • Respond to acute changes and perform resuscitation as needed
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
  • Educate and support parents on infant condition and treatment
  • Document assessments and interventions accurately in the medical record
  • Maintain infection control and safety protocols

Requirements

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • 2+ years NICU or specialty hospital experience
  • Experience with CPAP/ventilation, central lines, and stabilization/delivery attendance
  • Knowledge of developmental care principles
  • Willingness to serve as charge RN
  • RNC-NIC certification preferred

  • Float to Newborn Nursery as needed
  • No guaranteed hours; rotating call

  • Clean, professional appearance; visible piercings (other than ears) and perfume not permitted
