Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) — Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a registered nurse for its Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit to join the night shift team. You will deliver critical care to patients recovering from cardiac surgery and those with acute cardiac conditions requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and support.

Shift & Schedule

• Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Holiday Coverage: You must be available to work at least every other holiday

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Ohio or compact state); must be in hand at time of submission
• 18 months of combined permanent experience in CVICU or cardiac critical care (travel experience counts)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification — all current and active
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• One professional reference (manager, ANM, supervisor, or director) from an assignment within the past 12 months

Clinical Scope

You will manage post-cardiac surgery and high-acuity cardiac patients, providing:

• Hemodynamic monitoring and assessment
• Medication management including titratable vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips
• Advanced equipment monitoring (ventilators, arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, IABP, ECMO)
• Chest tube and pacing wire management
• Immediate post-operative cardiac care
• Collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, and intensivists

Orientation Requirements

You will complete an ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment during orientation; acceptable scores on both are required. Pre-start modules (6–15 hours) are included.
