Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join its imaging department. This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Call rotation: One weekday call per week (3:30 PM – 7:00 PM) and one weekend shift per month (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
- NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification (required)
- Current state radiologic/nuclear medicine license
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1+ years of nuclear medicine experience
- Solid understanding of radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety protocols
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals per physician orders
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures (bone scans, cardiac studies, PET/CT, thyroid scans, and others)
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and PET scanners
- Calculate and verify proper radiopharmaceutical dosages to ensure patient safety
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after administration
- Adhere to ALARA principles and radiation safety protocols
- Document exams, dosages, and patient information accurately in imaging systems
- Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment and dose calibrators
- Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials per regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians on imaging findings
