Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for its cardiovascular operating room (CVOR). This is a 13-week contract position in a two-suite CVOR department performing high-acuity cardiac and thoracic procedures.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Day shift, all positions
• Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required
• 36 guaranteed hours per week

Requirements

• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification
• BLS certification
• Minimum 1+ years CVOR/cardiac surgical technology experience
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, specialized instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass

Key Responsibilities

• Provide scrub support during coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve repairs/replacements, thoracotomies, endovascular AAA repairs, and pacemaker procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and specialized cardiac instruments
• Pass instruments and supplies, anticipating procedural needs
• Perform accurate counts and coordinate with perfusion and surgical teams
• Handle specimens for pathology
• Assist with room turnover and equipment maintenance

Ideal Candidate

Flexible, knowledgeable self-starter with scrubbing experience. You'll work alongside 3 RNs and 3 CSTs in a collaborative cardiac surgical environment.
