CVOR Surgical Technologist | Salem, VA | 13-Week Contract

This opportunity is in a cardiovascular OR setting performing a range of complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. The unit operates on day shift with a collaborative team of RNs and CSTs working closely together across OR suites.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 06:00–14:30
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week
• Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required
• Float to OR may be required

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: August 31, 2026
• Scrubs: Light blue, provided by the facility

Procedures Performed

• CABG
• Valve repair/replacement
• Thoracotomy
• Endovascular AAA repair
• Pacemaker implantation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide scrub support during cardiac and thoracic cases
• Maintain sterile field and manage specialized cardiac instrumentation
• Coordinate with perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts
• Assist with room turnover and specimen handling

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• CST certification required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR scrub experience
• Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic instrumentation and cardiopulmonary bypass

Preferred

• ACLS certification
• Additional scrubbing experience across cardiac subspecialties
