Cath Lab RN – 13-Week Travel Contract

Location: Charleston, WV

Shift: 4 × 10-hour days (6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Role

The facility's cardiac catheterization laboratory performs diagnostic angiograms, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), structural procedures, and device implants. You'll work as a circulator, managing patient care, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, and vascular access throughout procedures. Daily caseload averages 8–10 cases per team.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate procedures and monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status
• Administer medications, sedation, and contrast media per protocol
• Assess patients pre- and post-procedure; provide education and discharge instructions
• Manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and hemostasis
• Respond to emergent complications with appropriate interventions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
• Collaborate with cardiologists, technologists, and the interdisciplinary team

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in West Virginia or Compact license (pending license accepted for submission; must have active WV license before start)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience; minimum 1 year cath lab experience required (competency in diagnostic and intervention procedures, including structural)
• BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
• 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years

On-Call & Weekend Expectations

• 2–3 weekday nights per month: 7:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. (second call)
• Approximately one weekend call every 4–5 weeks: Friday 7:00 p.m. – Monday 6:30 a.m.
• Minimum 2-hour callback window
• First and second call rotate every 12 hours during coverage periods

Candidate Notes

• Pending license accepted for submission; must obtain active WV license before assignment begins
• Note: WV does not recognize RCIS as a licensed cath lab role
• Permanent address required within 100 miles of the facility (75–99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
• Orientation held every other Thursday; full documentation due by noon Monday prior to start date
