Interventional Radiology Technologist

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Shift & Schedule

Days: 4 × 10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM start (40 hours/week)

On-call: Every 3rd evening and 3rd weekend

Holiday rotation required (1–2 of 3 summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)

The Opportunity

The facility's interventional radiology suite performs approximately 25 vascular procedures daily, including angiograms, embolizations, stent placements, drain placements, and biopsies. You'll work as both scrub and circulator, monitoring patients throughout minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. The on-call team covers two facilities, with most emergencies routed to the level 1 trauma center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up sterile fields, instruments, and imaging equipment for IR procedures
  • Assist physicians during vascular and interventional cases
  • Monitor vital signs and hemodynamic status; alert the team to changes
  • Administer contrast media per physician orders; watch for adverse reactions
  • Operate fluoroscopy and angiography equipment
  • Ensure radiation safety and ALARA protocols
  • Document procedures and patient data accurately
  • Support post-procedure care and site management

Required Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) certification — active required
  • Iowa radiologic technology license (highly preferred; will consider licensing candidates)
  • 12+ months of hospital-based interventional vascular/IR experience
  • BLS certification (current or prior ACLS preferred)
  • Scrub, circulate, and monitoring experience in OR/IR settings
  • Peripheral vascular procedural experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Professional reference from supervisor/manager within the past 24 months

Preferred

  • ARRT (CI) or ARRT (VI) certification
  • RCIS/CCI certification
  • Level 1 trauma experience
