Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Contract Duration: 11 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (your choice)
About the Role
The facility's Cardiac Surgical ICU specializes in post-operative recovery and complex care for adult and geriatric patients following cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery. You'll provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, managing advanced hemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, arterial and central lines, and titratable vasoactive and sedation drips.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition
- Manage critical care equipment and administer complex medication regimens
- Collaborate with intensivists and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families throughout their recovery
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
- Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed
Requirements
- Active RN license (Alabama state or compact license; no temporary licenses)
- Associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred)
- 2+ years of recent critical care/CVICU experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Experience with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips
