Med Surg Tele Float Pool Nurse – Rochester, NY

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its Medical-Surgical Telemetry float pool. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions across multiple med surg telemetry units. This is a 16-week contract.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with day/night rotation option
• 36 hours per week
• 1 weekend shift per week, or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least 1 holiday during contract
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Coordinate discharge planning with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
• Float to other med surg units as needed based on facility needs

Requirements

• Active New York RN license
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent acute med surg/tele experience in a hospital setting
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Flexibility to accommodate facility scheduling needs
