Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Float Pool

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN to join the Medical-Surgical Telemetry float pool. You'll rotate across multiple med-surg telemetry units, providing comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (with day shift rotation available)
• 36 hours per week
• 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (cardiac, respiratory, diabetes)
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, and interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate charting and infection control/fall prevention protocols
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)

Requirements

• Active NY RN license; AHA BLS required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years recent acute med-surg/telemetry experience in a hospital setting
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
• Flexibility to float to other units as needed
