Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool – Evening Rotation
Position Overview
Join the facility's Med-Surg Tele float pool on a 16-week contract. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units, supporting adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour evening rotation: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- 1 weekend shift per week, or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, and treatment delivery
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to changes in patient condition
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, wound management, and pain control
- Coordinate care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, diabetic, and chronic conditions
- Administer cardiac drips and other medications per physician orders
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift (varies by unit acuity)
- Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in NY (or compact license)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent acute Med-Surg/Tele hospital experience
- Telemetry and EKG interpretation competency
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Flexibility to float between units as needed
