Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool – Evening Rotation

Position Overview

Join the facility's Med-Surg Tele float pool on a 16-week contract. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units, supporting adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions.

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour evening rotation: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • 1 weekend shift per week, or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, and treatment delivery
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to changes in patient condition
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care, wound management, and pain control
  • Coordinate care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, diabetic, and chronic conditions
  • Administer cardiac drips and other medications per physician orders
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
  • Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift (varies by unit acuity)
  • Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in NY (or compact license)
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute Med-Surg/Tele hospital experience
  • Telemetry and EKG interpretation competency
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted
  • Flexibility to float between units as needed
