Med Surg Tele Float Pool RN — 16-Week Contract
Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: 12-hour nights (7 PM–7 AM) and days (7 AM–7 PM) on a rotation schedule
Hours: 36 hours per week
About the Role
You'll join a med surg telemetry float pool, providing comprehensive care across multiple acute care units. Your responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation, medication administration including cardiac drips, pre- and post-operative management, wound care, and pain control. You'll coordinate discharge planning with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams while educating patients and families on their conditions and treatment plans.
Typical patient load is 4–6 per shift. You'll manage patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac diagnoses—including diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory conditions—in a fast-paced acute care setting.
Requirements
- Active NY RN license (compact license accepted)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certification required
- 2+ years recent acute med surg/tele experience in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Schedule & Expectations
- Night/day rotation with flexibility required
- Minimum 1 weekend shift per week (or 2 shifts every other weekend)
- At least 1 holiday shift required during the contract
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
