Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool – Rochester, NY
Position Overview
Join the med-surg float pool as an RN, rotating between telemetry units to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. You'll monitor cardiac rhythms, manage complex medication regimens, and coordinate care across an interdisciplinary team.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (with day/night rotation flexibility)
- 36 hours per week
- 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks
What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care to 4–6 patients per shift, with assignments varying by acuity
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and vital signs; respond to rhythm changes
- Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate discharge planning with physicians, case managers, and the care team
- Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and discharge instructions
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
- Float to other med-surg units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in New York
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 2+ years recent acute med-surg/telemetry experience in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated telemetry and EKG interpretation competency
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Additional Requirements
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduling needs
- Willingness to float across units as required
