Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Float Pool

Location: Rochester, NY

Shift & Schedule:

• 12-hour nights (7 PM – 7 AM) with day/night rotation options
• 36 hours per week
• 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed

Contract Duration: 16 weeks

About the Role:

Join the Medical-Surgical Telemetry float pool, providing comprehensive nursing care across multiple med-surg telemetry units. You'll care for adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, managing typical patient loads of 4–6 per shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to rhythm changes
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips as ordered
• Manage pre- and post-operative care: wound care, pain management, and discharge planning
• Care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and other chronic/acute conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Document accurately in the electronic health record
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements:

• Active RN license in NY
• AHA BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 2+ years recent acute med-surg/telemetry experience in a hospital
• Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• Flexibility to float to other units as needed
• Reside more than 50 miles from the facility
