Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Float Pool

Location: Rochester, NY

Shift: 12-hour nights (7 PM–7 AM) with day/night rotation option

Contract: 16 weeks

Hours: 36 hours per week

About the Role

Join a medical-surgical telemetry float pool serving adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including cardiac, medical, and post-surgical cases. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care across multiple med-surg telemetry units, bringing flexibility and strong clinical skills to a dynamic care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips as ordered
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory diagnoses
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active New York RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care med-surg/telemetry experience in a hospital setting
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Flexible scheduling; willingness to float to other units as needed
• Must work at least 1 holiday during contract term
• Weekend availability: 1 shift per week or 2 shifts every other weekend
