Med Surg Tele Float Pool RN – Rochester, NY
Position Overview
Join the facility's medical-surgical telemetry float pool as a registered nurse. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions across multiple med-surg tele units.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (night/day rotation available)
- 36 hours per week
- 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- 16-week contract
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, vital sign assessment, and rhythm interpretation
- Administer medications and manage cardiac drips as ordered
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (cardiac, respiratory, diabetes, and more)
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the electronic health record
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent acute med-surg/tele experience in a hospital setting
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to float to other units as needed
- Reside more than 50 miles from the facility
