Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool Nurse
Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: 12-hour nights (7 PM – 7 AM) with day/night rotation option
Contract Duration: 16 weeks
Schedule: 36 hours per week; 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend; minimum 1 holiday during contract
About the Role
Join the facility's Med-Surg Telemetry float pool, rotating across multiple telemetry units to provide flexible staffing support. You'll deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, managing typical patient loads of 4–6 per shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to rhythm changes and clinical deterioration
- Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate discharge planning and patient education with the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active New York RN license
- AHA BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Minimum 2 years recent acute Med-Surg/Telemetry experience in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated telemetry and EKG interpretation competency
- Non-U.S. candidates: 2 years of U.S. work experience required
- Flexibility to float between units and adjust schedule as needed
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
