Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool RN
Position Overview
Join the facility's medical-surgical telemetry float pool as an RN. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions across multiple med-surg telemetry units.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour evening rotation: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM or 3:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 36 hours per week
- 1 weekend shift per week, or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- 16-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory diagnoses
- Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning and discharge
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
- Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
- Follow infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- Active NY RN license
- AHA BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent acute med-surg/telemetry experience in a hospital setting
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Flexibility to float to other units as needed
