Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) — Registered Nurse

Position Overview

The facility's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a high-acuity unit providing specialized monitoring and treatment for adult cardiac patients. You'll care for complex cases admitted from the catheterization laboratory, emergency department, and acute care areas. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication with the interdisciplinary care team, and a commitment to delivering safe, compassionate patient care.

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekends: Every other weekend required
  • Holidays: Required
  • Float Requirements: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals as needed
  • Contract Duration: 16 weeks

Requirements

  • License: Active RN license (Alabama or compact state); no temporary licenses
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience; 18 months considered if at least 1 recent year in cardiac specialty
  • Certifications: AHA BLS and AHA ACLS required; AHA NIHPR or Red Cross equivalent accepted
  • Education: Associate degree in nursing required
  • Preferred: PALS certification (if working in pediatric unit)

You'll work in a professional, collaborative environment focused on optimal patient outcomes. The unit specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery patients, sepsis cases, and other high-complexity cardiac conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.
