Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Location: Baltimore, MD

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 21, 2026

About the Role

Join a high-acuity progressive care unit as a Registered Nurse providing direct care to patients who require closer monitoring than medical-surgical floors but not ICU-level intensity. You'll work in a supportive team environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients)
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; assess and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess and manage patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and the care team on individualized treatment plans
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
• Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in the electronic health record
• Follow strict infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Willing to precept

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact license acceptable)
• BLS and ACLS certification
• 1+ years of PCU or step-down experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
