Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Night Shift
Location: Decatur, GA
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: August 31, 2026
About the Role
You'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients who require closer monitoring than medical-surgical units but do not require ICU-level intervention. This role focuses on patients transitioning from critical care or at risk of clinical deterioration, with active telemetry monitoring and vital sign management.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients per shift)
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on their condition and recovery process
- Maintain accurate documentation and infection control protocols
- Support fall prevention and safety initiatives
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years PCU or step-down unit experience
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- PCCN certification preferred
Additional Details
- All time off must be requested upfront
- You'll know your assigned facility location before each shift
- Potential float between nearby facilities within your specialty as needed (main assignment: Decatur location)
- Candidates must be able to relocate or commute to the area
