Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Asheville, NC

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Role

The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN to provide compassionate, high-quality care to laboring patients and their families. You'll manage the full spectrum of labor and delivery, from admission through postpartum stabilization, in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status using continuous fetal heart rate monitoring and assessment of uterine contractions
• Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per physician orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
• Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
• Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support using NRP protocols
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and the NICU team on patient care
• Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the EHR

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of L&D nursing experience
• Proficiency with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
• Circulating experience preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Floating

May float to Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU as needed.
