Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) – RN

Location: Tomball, TX

Shift: 4 x 10 days (07:00–17:00)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's CVICU provides specialized nursing care for critically ill cardiac and post-cardiothoracic surgery patients. You'll work in a fast-paced environment managing complex hemodynamics, advanced life support equipment, and immediate post-operative cardiac surgery recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to high-acuity cardiac and post-cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Monitor and respond to hemodynamic changes, escalating concerns promptly
• Administer vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips per physician orders
• Manage ventilators, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, ECMO, and cardiac monitoring systems
• Care for chest tubes and pacing wires in immediate post-operative patients
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Respond to rapid responses and codes as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition and recovery
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CCRN preferred
• Minimum 1+ years of CVICU or cardiac critical care experience
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care and hemodynamic monitoring
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Unit Details

• Royal Blue scrubs for RNs
• 2 weeks of weekends per month
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
