Medical-Surgical Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical nurse for a 13-week night shift contract. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses on a busy Med-Surg unit.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• 13-week contract
• Willingness to float to other units as needed, based on your skill set and manager discretion

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and manage treatments per physician orders
• Provide pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care planning and discharge
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Uphold infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Current New York State RN license (required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of acute hospital nursing experience, with prior travel nursing experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• CMSRN certification preferred
• Ability to manage diverse patient loads with varying acuity levels

Important Notes

• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Mandatory EKG competency exam within 72 hours of contract start; 100% pass required
• Pre-arrival online orientation modules required (12–15 hours for RNs)
