Labor & Delivery Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a 13-week assignment in Rochester, NY. You will provide comprehensive care to laboring patients, manage fetal monitoring, and support vaginal and cesarean deliveries in a fast-paced obstetric environment.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Night/day rotation option
• 1 weekend shift per week (or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend)
• At least 1 holiday required during contract
• Block scheduling available upon request
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in New York (or compact license)
• Minimum 2 years recent L&D experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and C-EFM (fetal monitoring) certifications required
• Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns
• Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support)
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean section support
• Manage high-risk OB emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress)
• Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation
• Educate patients and families throughout labor and postpartum
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
• Document care accurately in the EMR

Floating Requirements

May float to mother/baby and nursery as needed based on facility demand.
