Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Trauma & Surgical Unit
Position Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights, 4 x 12-hour shifts)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Every other weekend; holidays as required
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (flexible)
- Start Date: September 14, 2026
- Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
About the Role
Join the facility's Trauma Surgical Unit, which serves acute care trauma and surgical patients, including orthopedic and urology cases. You'll work as part of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized care to patients hospitalized for surgery, trauma, illness, or observation.
The unit maintains a collaborative environment with family practice physicians, hospitalists, and surgical specialists. Nurses specialize in trauma care with expertise across multiple surgical specialties.
Requirements
- RN license (Alabama or Compact; no temporary licenses)
- BLS (AHA) certification required; PALS and CPR preferred
- Minimum 18 months nursing experience with 1+ year recent experience in general or acute care
- Willingness to float to other units and facilities as needed
- Scrubs: Solid navy
What You'll Do
Provide direct patient care on a telemetry-monitored unit, manage post-operative and trauma patients, collaborate with the surgical team, and support interdisciplinary care plans. Float flexibility may be required based on facility needs.
