NICU Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility's NICU provides intensive care for critically ill and premature neonates requiring advanced life support and specialized monitoring. You'll work in a Level III unit caring for high-risk infants, managing ventilators, CPAP, umbilical lines, and other critical equipment while supporting thermoregulation, feeding, and developmental care.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
- Every other weekend
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- RNC-NIC certification preferred
- Minimum 1+ year NICU experience required
- Experience with high-risk neonates, ventilator management, and isolette/warmer care
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to critically ill neonates with continuous monitoring and rapid assessment
- Administer medications and titratable drips using precise neonatal dosing
- Manage advanced life support equipment and monitor equipment alarms and function
- Support developmental care, thermoregulation, and family education (including kangaroo care)
- Collaborate with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team on care plans
- Perform resuscitation and rapid response interventions as needed
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols for immunocompromised patients
- Document all assessments and interventions accurately
Staffing & Float
Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4 depending on acuity. You may float to pediatrics, PICU, or mother/baby unit (babies only) as needed.
